RNA REALLY DO defend the 2nd Amendment? According to the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, "... The right of people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." The word "arms" has been deliberately capitalized, a common practice at the time used for emphasis. Since later, Thomas Jefferson owned a gun private, the largest weapon in its day, the term "arms" to the original authors clearly meant more arms, one can easily "bear," notes "to keep "and bear arms.
The word "gun" appears nowhere in the Constitution, a document very carefully worded. It should also be noted that, in constructing a preamble, one of the main objectives is to "insure domestic tranquility" (also capitalized). Honestly and accurately interpret the intentions of the authors, what follows the preamble, including all original ten amendments added soon, should be considered in light of the stated purpose of the Constitution.
For many years the NRA has been guilty of drawing non-existent artificial line in the center of Amendment 2, by limiting the debate to firearms, knives, grenades and other small arms. Claiming that the 2nd Amendment allows unlimited unregulated private ownership of assault weapons modern Constitution is no more rational to claim that the 2nd amendment allows an unlimited number of privately owned chemical weapons, nuclear bombs and weapons in space-ray, which are as modern "weapons" to unknown writers.
In order to engage in honest debate constitutional, the NRA must admit that in their interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, we have as much right to possess nuclear bombs and private Anthrax as we do possess a handgun several times, none of which existed when the 2nd amendment was drafted. If we want a society at all, so the question 21st century is not "if" we will restrict the interpretation of RNA of the 2nd Amendment, but rather, how are we going to restrict it.
For the record, if any live Americans have the right to advocate for restricting the 2nd Amendment, it is Jim and Sarah Brady. And like the founding fathers wisely allowed, you can always change what they originally wrote down. An idea can be better and healthier would be to modify the RNA, completely and entirely, forcing our media are reluctant to report their position quite irrational and misleading.
The NRA has not allowed more rational or constitutional to limit the 2nd amendment to a question of ownership of small arms that the ACLU has the right to restrict the 1st Amendment of their Constitution, historically and scientifically irrational interpretation evidence available. Perhaps Thomas Jefferson re-write of the New Testament, when he was President, would now include the following observation ironic: If conservatives and liberals to slip into bed like a dark deception, they will probably Both are in the same bottomless black hole, accordingly.
Is this really the NRA defend the 2nd amendment? You decide.
