Gymnastics TownsvilleGators strong at Sun Angel Track Classic

A group of Gators, Athletics, were in action Saturday at the Sun Angel Classic track at Arizona State, where the Gators picked up six NCAA regional points, including three permanent improvement of the individual at the NCAA descending order list.

Both men and women's javelin events have been great for the Gators. Four of its NCAA regional standards and two of his three improvements on the appointed day, in this case. Junior Adam Montague (Townsville, Australia) won the men's competition with a shot 73.40m/240-10 which fell to less than two feet short of his best season. Freshman Doug Nelson (Tampa, Florida) was also cut above the NCAA Regional with a throw of heavy 61.38m/201-4 that allowed him to finish sixth and just under its high mark of the year. Sophomore Evelien Dekkers (Etten-Leur, Netherlands) presented an improvement in women's javelin, winning the runner-up honors with a throw of 51.76m/169-10 to save the best for a season and NCAA regional mark the second straight week. Classmate Star Sansone (Boca Raton, Fla.) finished fifth, but he improved his lifetime best for the second consecutive day with a NCAA regional qualifying stroke 46.93m/154-0. With this effort, it has exceeded the PR of 46.77m/153-5 she set in Friday night at the Mesa Classic.

Junior Beau Burroughs (Tampa, Fla.) also recorded a PR entry on Saturday in the Round of men being shot with a rising outdoor career best of 17.50m/57-5. This earned its mark Burroughs NCAA second regional office of the year at the event. Sophomore Mariam Kevkhishvili (Tbilisi, Georgia), the coup of 2008 rooms NCAA champion, participated in the invitation / section of the elite women's shot put and finished second.

This is starting to be a great season and is a good time to buy goods and gear while Gator sports spring begin to warm up!
