Nottingham has a delightful range of fascinating tourist attractions, suitable for everyone from the amateur historian Robin Hood fan, but the city has much to offer beyond half-trips a day to visitors from outside . For those who live in the city proper or its suburbs surrounding, and for those who visit on day trips and holidays, there are all kinds of music, theater, restaurants, shopping, sports and nightlife. Entertainment is rich and abundant in the modern city of Nottingham.

For classical music, there are several groups of musicians of choice, including the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nottingham Harmonic Society, Bach Choir, the Symphonic Wind Orchestra, and the early music group Musica Donum Dei. The government also sponsors an annual series of orchestral concerts known as the Nottingham Classics, Nottingham Music Society hosts chamber music concerts at the Castle Gate Congregational Centre.

The city has several other exciting concert halls, including the Royal Concert Hall and the Nottingham Arena, which feature a wide variety of modern artists. More intimate shows are played on the websites of clubs like Junktion 7, the old angel, award-winning Rock City and its sister sites, and much more. Nottingham has a vibrant pub and club scene, sustained by young adults from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. The local music scene has produced bands Swing Out Sister, Ten Years After, Paper Lace, Tindersticks, Stereo MCs, Pitchshifter and consumed.

Improving informed theatergoers can attend plays at the theater in Nottingham, Theatre Royal and Theatre Arts from Nottingham. Small local theaters including Albert Hall in Nottingham, Bonington Theatre, the Clarendon Community Theatre, Theatre on the court and the Lakeside Arts Centre. Each year, Newstead Abbey hosts summer theater, Shakespeare and other offerings, while in winter they are nostalgic Christmas competition.

Dining out in Nottingham twenty years ago was a company rather dark, the choices were fairly narrow and bland. These days, there are many good restaurants, some national prize winner, including Hart, Jesse, merchants, Petit Paris Pretty Orchid Punchinello and the Mediterranean. There are a wide variety of local and ethnic cuisines to choose from the many restaurants in the city, cafes, places of delivery and takeaway. Indian, Middle Eastern, Spanish, Italian, Egyptian, Caribbean, Mexico, Russian, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and even American food is available.

Sport is entertainment of choice in Nottingham, with three major concert halls in the line of sight of each other. The local football teams are Nottingham Forest and Notts County (the oldest team in the Football League in the world). The Trent Bridge cricket ground is home to the champion Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Each year in the fall of the famous Robin Hood Marathon and a handful of shorter races are held in the city center. The National Ice Center ice skating skating is where international celebrities training and competing in various sports, and the Nottingham Panthers ice hockey play. The city also has facilities for rugby at the professional level, tennis, rowing, sailing and canoeing.

Victoria Centre and Broadmarsh Shopping Centre (below cave with its exhibitions) are the two main sites for commercial entertainment, retailers such as housing Jessops / John Lewis, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and House of Fraser. Small sections of detail can be found at the arcade Exchange and the Flying Horse Walk. luxury shops have a house in Bridlesmith Gate, is where designer Paul Smith made his debut, and the home of Nottingham's school of fashion which he founded. Hockley Village serves a more sophisticated crowd.
