I worked as an umpire and volleyball referee in chief for over 25 years in local and state levels. I was at 2 World Games in North Carolina and Ireland and the Games and nationally.
This is a great experience.

Join more than 700,000 Special Olympics volunteers throughout the world by contacting your local program. Special Olympics would not exist today - and could not be created - without the time, energy, commitment and enthusiasm of its volunteers. As an organization of basic, Special Olympics relies on volunteers at all levels of the movement to ensure that every athlete is offered a quality sports training and competition experience.

Volunteers can participate in Special Olympics state / provincial, national or international, or offer their services locally at a Special Olympics program in their community. Some volunteers offer a few hours of their time per year at specific events, while others work hours each year several week-round. Whatever your interests, talents, experience and availability, there are volunteer opportunities for you, from a portion of a day as a marker during a sporting event of authorized providers of care health volunteer their time to provide opportunities for health-based events for athletes throughout the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes ® initiative.

Volunteering is an enriching experience .. for those who care to give their time instead of or in addition to their tithe.

Not at all! but my brother has it cerebilpausey (probally spelled wrong)! :) And it was soo much fun, he wants to come back every year I've never seen anything NOT put his trust like that:)

When I worked at the sports center of our local junior college we had the basketball team of Special Olympics in practice and hold tournaments. You can not help falling in love with these athletes!
