Athletics (or track) is in many ways the embodiment of the Olympic motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius, meaning faster, higher, stronger. Track and Field is to run faster, jump higher and throwing further than your competitors.
There are standards that must be followed as mandated by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The playground should be the norm. And China believes that the National Stadium has responded to these standards.
What are the standards anyway, we'll take a look at the criteria of the IAAF are we?
Track events
(The following text is removed from http://en.beijing2008.cn/en.shtml)
The standard track length is 400m turnover. It is composed of two parallel straights and two bends whose radii are equal. Unless it is a grass runway, inside the track shall be bordered by a sidewalk of a suitable material, approximately 5 cm high and 5 cm wide minimum.
If a section of the border should be temporarily removed for field events, its place is marked by a white line 5cm in width and by cones or flags at least 20cm in height, placed on the white line while the edge of the base of the cone or flag pole coincides with the edge closest to the white line at the track, and placed at intervals not exceeding 4 meters. This also applies to the section of the steeplechase track where athletes away from the main track to negotiate a water jump.
For a grass track without a sidewalk, the inner edge should be marked with lines 5cm wide. It must also be reported at intervals of 4m. The flags should be placed on the line to prevent any athlete running on the line, and they must be placed at an angle of 60 ° with the ground, away from the track.
Flags around 25cmx20cm size mounted on a staff of 45 cm in length are most suitable for this purpose.
The measure must be taken 30cm outward from the curb or, failing to reduce exists, 20cm from the line marking the inside of the track.
The race distance should be measured from the edge of the start line far from the finish near the finish line near the start.
In all races up to and including 400m, each athlete must have a separate lane with a width of 1.22m ± 0.01m marked by white lines 5cm wide. All lanes are the same width. The inside lane should be measured as indicated in paragraph 2 above, but the remaining tracks should be measured 20cm from the edges of lines.
